The short version
You don't need an account. What you do in In My Rotation stays in your browser or on your phone, except for the few things listed below.
There are no advertising trackers, and nothing about you is sold.
The app counts how it is used, without knowing who you are. You can turn the counting off on the You page.
This website
This website (inmyrotation.com) sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics. If you write to us, we keep your email so we can answer it.
If you asked for an invite before the app opened its door, we keep the name, email address and message you gave us, so we can answer you, and nothing else about you. Write to us and we will delete them.
If you came in through the web app's door
Neither the web app (app.inmyrotation.com) nor the iPhone app asks for your name or email to get in. Until 15 October 2026 the web app did: if you gave them then, we keep the name, the email address and any message you left, and when you came in and were last seen. A cookie in your browser remembers that you came in, and while it lasts the counts described below from that browser are linked to that name and email, and anything you tell us about the app arrives with that name. Turning the counting off on the You page stops the counts, and so does a browser that asks not to be tracked. Write to us and we will delete what you gave.
If you came in earlier still through a sign-in screen run by Cloudflare, Cloudflare kept the email address you typed there, and we can see that list.
What stays on your device
What you swiped, what the app has learned from that, your bags and what is in them, what you marked as bought, and the sizes you picked, which the app remembers so it can pick your usual size for you next time. If you sign in, a copy of your bags and swipes is kept with your account as well (see below).
If you choose to save checkout details (email, name, address, phone), they are kept on your device too. Payment details are never asked for.
You can forget your swipes or your usual sizes, or erase your checkout details, on the You page. Clearing the site's data in your browser removes everything.
In the web app, without an account
So that your bags survive a browser clearing this site's data (Safari does after about a week without a visit), the web app also keeps a copy of them on our server while you are not signed in: your bags and what is in them, the sizes and colors you picked, what you swiped and what the app has learned from it, and who you shop for. Checkout details and your usual sizes are never part of it.
The copy is kept under a random code held in a cookie that only our server reads. The code is not your name or email, and the copy is not linked to the usage counts or to an account. A copy not used for about 13 months is deleted. Clearing this site's cookies as well removes the code, and with it the way back to the copy, which is then deleted in time. Write to us to have it deleted sooner. The iPhone app keeps no such copy.
If you sign in
Signing in is optional. If you do, we keep your email address, so you can sign in again, and a copy of your bags: their names, the products in them, the sizes and colors you picked, and each price when you saved it. That copy is what lets your bags follow you to another phone or computer. We also keep what you swiped (each product you liked, passed or bagged) and what the app has learned from it, so another device picks up where you left off instead of showing you everything again.
Checkout details and your usual sizes are not part of it; they stay on your device. The usage counts below are not linked to your account.
If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your email address and name, and learns that you signed in here. We do not see your Google password.
If you sign in with Apple, Apple tells us your email address, or, if you choose Hide My Email, a private address of Apple's that forwards to it. We do not see your Apple password.
You can delete your account on the You page, under Manage account. That removes your sign-in and the copies of your bags and swipes; what is on your device stays.
So nothing is lost if something goes wrong, a copy of the accounts, bags, swipes, the web app's door list and what people wrote to us is taken every night and kept for 14 days. A deleted account is gone from those copies within 14 days.
What reaches us
The words you search for, so the search can be answered. They arrive without your name or any identifier added by us, and no profile of you is built from them.
Counts of what is done in the app: that it was opened (with the kind of device, such as an iPhone or a computer, and whether it was opened from a link on Facebook, Instagram or another site), cards liked or passed, searches, products looked at, which of the app’s pages were opened, and links followed to a store, with the store and product involved. Each count carries a random number made up on your device, so visits can be told apart. It is not your name, email or address, and outside the web app it is not linked to them. We look at the totals, and at how the visits from each random number went (how long, how many cards were swiped and liked, what was saved to bags, which products were opened, what was searched for, and which pages and stores were visited), to see what is working; that tells us how the app is used, not who used it. The counts are deleted after about thirteen months.
What you send with “Tell us what you think”: the words, how many cards you had swiped by then, and the email address if you add one so we can write back. Nothing else comes with it. Write to us and we will delete it.
Turn the counting off under Usage counts on the You page and nothing more is sent. If your browser asks sites not to track you (Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track), nothing is counted at all.
Like any website, the company that hosts this one (Cloudflare) handles your IP address and browser details in order to deliver it. We do not keep your IP address with the counts.
If the app crashes, or meets an error it cannot handle, a report goes to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.), the service we use to find and fix such problems: on a phone, its model and iOS version; in a browser, which browser and system; and the app's version and where in its code it happened. It carries nothing that says who you are, and nothing about what you were looking at.
What reaches the stores
Product photos load from each store's own servers, so those stores see a request from your browser, as they would for any picture on the web.
When you open your bags, the app asks the stores what your saved things cost now and which sizes are in stock.
When you tap through to a store, you are on its site, under its privacy policy. If you saved checkout details, they are put in the link that opens that store's checkout, so its form arrives filled in. That happens only for the store you chose to check out at, and not at a store whose link earns a commission (see below).
Links that may earn a commission
Some links to stores may earn In My Rotation a commission if you buy after following them. A commission never changes the price you pay.
Those links pass through an affiliate network on their way to the store. The ones in use are CJ Affiliate (Commission Junction LLC) and Awin. When you follow such a link, the network may place a cookie in your browser and record an identifier for the browser, the kind of browser it is and your IP address, so the store can be told the visit came from us. We send the network the address of the page you are going to and nothing about you: not your name, your email, or anything you saved for checkout. At a store reached this way your saved checkout details are not put in the link; you type them at the store.
CJ's own privacy notice is at cj.com/legal/privacy-policy-services, and you can ask CJ what it holds about you, or to delete it, at cj.com/dsr. Awin's is at awin.com/us/privacy, and you can ask Awin the same at [email protected].
